El Arco Iris

Mexican Cuisine

04

Established in 1964, El Arco Iris was brought to Highland Park with the motive of introducing the taste of Queretaro, Mexico to the people of Los Angeles. The original founders and owners of the restaurant, Gustavo and Irene Montes, have achieved their goal of introducing their own take on authentic Mexican food to Highland Park. Today, the restaurant is known to be an old family favorite that has been experienced by multiple generations. The ownership of El Arco Iris has been passed down to Gustavo and Irene’s children, and also their grandchildren. For all 52 years they’ve been around, the restaurant has been a traditional family business and will continue to be a family business as long as it stays in Highland Park. Some of Gustavo and Irene’s original signature dishes - chile verde, mole poblano and carnitas - have never faltered despite the changes in their neighborhood.

“We continue our family’s tradition, offering a comfortable environment, friendly service and great, authentic food.” - El Arco Iris
